Phylosophy of the choreograhic process

My process of creation responds to an inquiry that could not be defined or explored completely through words. Improvisation and somatic explorations generate and enrich the understanding of my inquiry.  Through the expression of my idea in movement and stillness, and the sharing process with the space and others, I tried to approach closer to it, and explore why it is meaningful for me to express it.

Once I defined my theme, I used other tools –poems, music, images—to enrich the research process.  When I shared with others the results of my exploration, I built a pathway where my inquiry and doubts can be seen, heard and felt by others.

I have danced and choreographed for about twenty years in groups of contemporary dance in Honduras, Mexico, and the San Francisco Bay Area, and I have participated in dance festivals and presented my work in Central America and the United States.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, I have been fortunate to collaborate with artists Bonner Odell, Elizabeth Boubion, Aya Chigusa, Maryann Brooks, Cathie Caraker, Rosemary Hannon, Christine Germain, Joy Cosculluela, among others. I have presented my work at NohSpace, Dance Mission, Counterpulse, Moments Notice, TheOffCenter, The Garage, and The Safe House Arts.

My sources of inspiration are Jess Curtis, Cathie Caraker, Catharina Erikson, Rosemary Hannon, Vitali Kononov, Brenton Cheng, Ana Gonzalez, Nadia Beugre, among others.
